Black Forest Cake is a classic German dessert that consists of layers of chocolate cake, whipped cream, and cherries.

topped with more whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
The cherries used in Black Forest Cake are typically sour cherries, which are
known in German as “Schattenmorellen” or “Morello cherries.”
